About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, patient- and family-centered nursing care within the Pediatric Neurosurgery multidisciplinary team.
- Perform focused assessments to guide clinical decision-making and manage preoperative and postoperative support.
- Manage patient triage via telephone, portal messages, and symptom calls as a primary function.
- Support clinic workflows including patient intake, medication reconciliation, and nurse visits (in-person or video).
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and individualized care plans.
- Document nursing assessments and care accurately in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary partners to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing OR an Associate/Diploma in Nursing with a Master's degree.
- Current nursing license in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical pediatric RN experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent ambulatory care nursing experience.
- Proficiency in phone triage, in-basket management, and electronic medical records.
- Baseline knowledge of the neurosciences (brain, spinal cord, or nervous system).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous RN experience specifically with the Pediatric Neurosurgery population.
- Certification in Ambulatory Nursing.
