About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision of baccalaureate nursing students in approved clinical settings, including hospitals, community settings, and simulation centers.
- Work collaboratively with course faculty to meet clinical course expectations and objectives.
- Demonstrate competence in clinical teaching and provide weekly constructive feedback to students.
- Identify students requiring remediation and collaborate with course coordinators to develop individualized plans.
- Maintain professional standards, patient confidentiality (HIPAA), and student confidentiality (FERPA).
- Participate in debriefing and mentoring during lab and simulation sessions to maximize student learning.
- Document and report issues regarding student illness, injury, safety, attendance, or medication errors.
Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing.
- Minimum of two years of current clinical experience as a practicing Registered Nurse.
- Current unencumbered Alabama RN license.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Workers.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, on a semester-to-semester basis.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle confidential data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in clinical supervision of students.
- Clinical experience in specialty areas such as critical care or behavioral health.
