About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight and direction of clinical services, including direct and indirect patient care and patient safety.
  • Serve as the senior on-site medical authority for the facility, leading clinical governance, documentation standards, and infection control.
  • Implement and oversee clinical governance policies, procedures, and medical practice requirements.
  • Lead quality management, performance improvement activities, and the resolution of clinical concerns or sentinel events.
  • Supervise and provide clinical oversight to a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, PAs, NPs, nursing staff, and pharmacists.
  • Ensure continuous readiness for inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Provide direct patient care as required to support timely access to care and mission needs.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and medically defensible clinical documentation in accordance with policy and contract requirements.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited U.S., Canadian, or ECFMG-certified program.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted medical license in Texas (or ability to obtain one).
  • Unrestricted DEA license to prescribe controlled medications.
  • Minimum of 6 years of post-residency experience providing direct patient care.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical supervision and leadership of medical professionals.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Preventive Health.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or American Red Cross.
  • U.S. citizenship and residency in the U.S. for the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
