Climate Data Scientist

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve climate and nature risk models using large, multimodal geospatial datasets
• Support the creation of new climate risk assessment products and analytical tools
• Build robust and reliable datasets to power advanced analytics like spatial regression and clustering
• Maintain and improve existing datasets, models, and data pipelines
• Evaluate new data sources and collection methods for accuracy and effectiveness
• Provide topic expertise on physical climate risks and natural hazard modelling to colleagues and clients
• Analyze regulatory requirements and climate scenarios to identify opportunities for new sustainable finance solutions

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in atmospheric or physical sciences, meteorology, hydrology, or environmental science
• Experience in climate hazard or natural catastrophe modelling
• Proficiency in Python with libraries such as Xarray, Dask, and Rasterio
• Knowledge of CMIP datasets and ability to interpret climate model outputs
• Experience with geospatial data formats including NetCDF, Zarr, or GeoTIFF
• Strong statistical analysis and data science skills
• Excellent written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI or machine learning methods for predictive modelling
• Working knowledge of UNIX shell and Docker
• Research experience or climate-related publications
• Experience in ESG or sustainable climate finance
• Knowledge of French or German
