Clerk of Works

Responsibilities

• Act as the Client’s representative during construction works, monitoring workmanship, materials, and progress
• Undertake regular site inspections to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
• Inspect works for compliance with Building Regulations, Health & Safety legislation, and quality standards
• Monitor contractor performance and report on progress, quality issues, defects, and non-conformances
• Monitor façade remediation, cladding replacement, and fire safety improvement works
• Inspect external wall system installations, including cavity barriers, fire stopping, and insulation
• Maintain detailed site records, inspection reports, and progress updates
• Support the successful completion, handover, and defects rectification phases of projects

Requirements

• Experience in a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, Site Manager, or Building Surveyor role
• Experience with façade remediation, cladding replacement, or fire safety remediation projects
• Understanding of external wall systems, cavity barriers, and fire stopping
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and Health & Safety legislation
• Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership of ICWCI, CIOB, RICS, or other relevant professional bodies
• Knowledge of PAS 9980, EWS1 processes, and Building Safety Act requirements
• Experience on building refurbishment or public sector projects
• CSCS card or relevant site safety qualification
