Cleaning Operator

Responsibilities

• Receive, handle, and inspect audiovisual carriers such as tapes, films, and cassettes according to internal protocols.
• Clean carriers using manual and mechanical tools in a safe, contamination-free environment.
• Follow specific cleaning protocols for various formats and materials.
• Identify and report damage or irregularities like mold, warping, or magnetic layer issues to supervisors.
• Ensure carriers are properly labeled, tracked, and stored.
• Monitor cleaning stations and equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Record cleaning actions and anomalies, escalating issues to the Supervisor as needed.
• Collaborate with imaging, ingest, and restoration teams to ensure efficient material handoff.

Requirements

• Secondary education; a technical or vocational diploma is preferred.
• Basic understanding of audiovisual carrier types (e.g., U-Matic, VHS, Betacam, audiotapes).
• High level of manual dexterity and the ability to handle delicate materials with care.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) precisely.
• Basic Excel skills for data entry and record-keeping.
• Reliable, methodical, and safety-conscious approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the physical handling of fragile or historical materials.
• A demonstrated interest in preservation, archiving, or audiovisual heritage.
