Classroom Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in implementing and managing the educational program
• Assist with classroom management and assume teacher responsibilities temporarily when needed
• Observe and document children's progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents
• Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and parent/guardian conferences
• Maintain classroom materials and equipment
• Comply with State licensing, NAEYC accreditation guidelines, and departmental policies
• Follow health and safety protocols, including infection control and universal precautions
• Assist in field research, pre-service experiences, and community collaboration

Requirements

• High school diploma (or GED) with CDA certification and 6 months of experience working with children, OR an Associate's Degree and 6 months of experience working with children
• Must meet requirements for the Office of Child Care Licensing Assistant Teacher Certificate
• Basic computer, math, reading, and writing skills
• Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds with or without assistance
• Successful completion of criminal background checks, child protection/adult abuse registry checks, health examination, and TB test
