Claims Management and Coverage Counsel

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a claims caseload from notification through resolution
• Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages for professional, employment, real estate, and D&O matters
• Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters
• Proactively monitor claims and develop resolution strategies
• Assign and manage outside counsel to obtain optimal resolutions
• Prepare client reports with exposure analysis and reserve recommendations
• Resolve claims through direct negotiations and mediation
• Interface regularly with clients, carriers, and outside counsel

Requirements

• JD from an accredited Law School
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 5+ years of legal practice experience in the insurance area
• Experience handling complex insurance claims and evaluating coverage issues
• Strong legal research, negotiation, and organizational skills
• Ability to assess insurance policies and identify potential legal risks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage denial letters
• Prior experience in private practice, insurance coverage, or claims counseling
