Claims Examiner, General Liability

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial general liability, auto, and excess/umbrella claims for medium severity accounts across various US jurisdictions
• Identify and assess coverage issues, draft position letters, and retain coverage counsel when necessary
• Develop and implement timely resolution strategies to mitigate indemnity and expense exposures
• Investigate claims by reviewing insured materials, pleadings, and relevant legal documents
• Analyze and direct risk transfer, additional insured issues, and contractual indemnity matters
• Analyze coverage, liability, and damages to recommend appropriate reserves
• Maintain regular communication with claims staff, underwriters, defense counsel, and brokers
• Negotiate claim resolutions and attend mediations, trials, or other relevant proceedings
• Maintain accurate claim diaries and respond expeditiously to inquiries from stakeholders

Requirements

• Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Strong time management and organizational abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% for business needs
