About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve routine civil and structural problems.
- Prepare accurate technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to technical problem resolution.
- Develop civil/structural engineering solutions for plant equipment upgrade projects, including pipe hanger design and structural analysis.
- Assist in the planning, organizing, and monitoring of work activities to meet business goals and site milestones.
- Collaborate with other design engineering staff to ensure high-quality design solutions for the Harris/Robinson nuclear sites.
- Perform field support, including system walkdowns and monitoring modification implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program (a Master's degree in Engineering may be considered in lieu of a BS).
- 0-4 years of engineering experience (depending on whether the role is filled at the Engineer I or Engineer II level).
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience (candidates without this experience may be subject to specific oversight and approval).
- Ability to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access.
- Willingness to work extended hours, participate in Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities, and perform occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in pipe hanger design, structural analysis, pipe stress analysis, or seismic equipment qualification.
- Willingness to learn and perform ASME B31.1 and ASME Section III pipe stress analysis.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam and a desire to pursue a PE license.
- Understanding of basic principles of project management and engineering design research.
