The Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs (WLC) works to create legal, economic, and social equity through litigation, client and public education, and public policy advocacy with a primary focus on racial justice. For the last 55 years, the Committee has been on the cutting edge of civil rights advocacy in the region.
Responsibilities
- Perform factual and legal research
- Draft memos or pleadings
- Support litigation and advocacy agendas
- Participate in case/issue area check-ins and strategy sessions
- Assist in areas including economic stability, housing equity, public services, education, and criminal justice reform
Requirements
- Must be a current law student
- Ability to receive school credit (required for unpaid terms)
- Ability to commit to a quarter, semester, or summer term
- Minimum 15 hours per week for part-time roles
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in social justice and civil rights advocacy
