Civil Inspector (Earthworks/Structures)

Responsibilities

• Inspect earthworks and structural construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications
• Monitor site activities including excavation, backfilling, embankment works, and subgrade preparation
• Verify setting out, line, level, and coordinates before the commencement of work
• Inspect excavation dimensions, formation levels, and soil conditions
• Witness field density tests, compaction tests, and soil testing activities
• Inspect formwork, reinforcement, embedded items, and concrete works before casting
• Verify reinforcement size, spacing, cover, laps, and anchorage as per approved drawings
• Witness concrete pouring, slump testing, cube sampling, and curing activities
• Review and close Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when necessary
• Maintain daily inspection reports and site quality records
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements during execution

Requirements

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in civil construction inspection, specifically focusing on earthworks and structural works
• Proven experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., rail or transportation)
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, compaction testing, and concrete quality control
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction specifications and Inspection Test Plans (ITP)
• Proficiency in preparing inspection reports and non-conformance documentation
• Excellent command of written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on major UAE infrastructure projects (e.g., Dubai Metro or RTA projects)
• Background in freight rail or heavy rail construction projects
• Professional certification in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)
• Knowledge of UAE building codes and safety regulations
