About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach curriculum developed by the department, specifically in Architectural Graphics, Residential Electrical Systems, or OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety.
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and safety within a correctional facility setting.
- Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies.
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, utilizing instructional technology where appropriate.
- Modify instructional methods to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student information.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, OR commensurate industry certification, OR an associate's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant work/teaching experience.
- Ability to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting at Madison Correctional Institution.
- Ability to pass a DRC background check.
- Must reside in or be able to perform work within Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work successfully in a culturally diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative instructional strategies.
- Proficiency in using modern educational technology and multimedia-based instruction.
