About the role

Responsibilities

  • Champion gas chromatography (GC) and advanced hyphenated techniques such as GCxGC, GC-VUV, and GC-MS for R&D and business applications.
  • Solve complex analytical challenges in the energy and chemical industry using advanced chromatographic methods and complementary techniques like NMR or spectroscopy.
  • Develop and implement innovative chromatographic methods and characterization protocols to support research programs.
  • Design and optimize advanced GC-based workflows and establish robust data analysis strategies.
  • Serve as a technical lead and test method owner, ensuring compliance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary matrix environment and deliver technical reports and presentations to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in GC method development and advanced chromatographic techniques.
  • Strong expertise in hyphenated techniques including GCxGC, GC-VUV, and GC-MS.
  • Knowledge of high-resolution mass spectrometry and various ion sources.
  • Proficiency in data processing and chemometrics using programming tools such as Python, Matlab, or R.
  • Solid understanding of analytical chemistry principles applied to complex sample matrices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with headspace, pyrolysis, and thermal desorption techniques.
  • Background in chemical, petrochemical, or biochemical industry research laboratories.
  • Knowledge of structure–property relationships in hydrocarbons, polymers, and renewable feedstocks.
  • A track record of scientific publications, patents, or conference presentations.
