Chiropodist

Responsibilities

• Provide general chiropody services to high-risk patients with diabetes
• Mentor and provide clinical instruction to other health professionals in diabetic foot care
• Act as a resource person to staff, students, and the community regarding foot care
• Demonstrate competency in professional practice and hospital-based standards
• Work within an inter-professional team-based model for clinical practice and program planning
• Maintain fiscal responsibility within funding boundaries

Requirements

• Recognized diploma in Chiropody
• Current registration and member in good standing with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario
• Wound care certification from the Canadian Association of Wound Care
• Experience with mentoring and teaching
• Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle
• Ability to travel to multiple foot care sites within Halton and surrounding areas
• Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Health Care Professionals who have taken the foot care course
• Knowledge of Self-Management Principles
• Experience providing education in group settings
