Chip Mill Operator

Responsibilities

• Safely operate knuckle boom, front-end loaders, grapple loaders, and bulldozers in the chipping process
• Troubleshoot and operate woodyard equipment including debarker, chipper, bark hog, chains, and conveyance systems
• Monitor and correct operational values via computers and HMI screens to ensure consistent chip mill operation
• Perform daily checks, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on chipper components and woodyard machinery
• Maintain required paperwork and escalate issues promptly for resolution
• Perform housekeeping to meet company standards

Requirements

• Internal company certification required
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job instructions
• Proficient in mathematics and measurement
• Ability to work with little to no supervision
• Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces up to 50 feet occasionally
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including temperatures above 100°F and below 32°F
• Operate heavy material moving equipment requiring extended periods of sitting
• Regularly push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds; walk, climb, stoop, and stand
• Ability to bend, squat, climb, and lift items above shoulders occasionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledgeable and experienced with heavy equipment operation in a similar industry
• High school diploma or GED
