About the role
Responsibilities
- Respond to referrals to determine if child abuse or neglect has occurred
- Conduct interviews with parents and children to gather essential information
- Observe and analyze the safety of home environments
- Gather collateral information from schools, medical professionals, and law enforcement
- Maintain detailed documentation and enter information into required databases
- Arrange medical evaluations and substitute care placements for children
- Present evidence and testify in court proceedings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field (degree must be completed)
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Experience in social services, assessment, or fact-finding interviews
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including participation in an on-call rotation
- Ability to travel frequently to various community sites and remote areas
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing resources to children and families in a social services capacity
- Demonstrated ability to think analytically and use critical thinking in high-pressure situations
- Experience writing professional case plans, court reports, or investigative reports
- Experience building partnerships with community organizations and agency staff
