About the role

Responsibilities

  • Respond to referrals to determine if child abuse or neglect has occurred
  • Conduct interviews with parents and children to gather essential information
  • Observe and analyze the safety of home environments
  • Gather collateral information from schools, medical professionals, and law enforcement
  • Maintain detailed documentation and enter information into required databases
  • Arrange medical evaluations and substitute care placements for children
  • Present evidence and testify in court proceedings

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field (degree must be completed)
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
  • Experience in social services, assessment, or fact-finding interviews
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including participation in an on-call rotation
  • Ability to travel frequently to various community sites and remote areas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing resources to children and families in a social services capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and use critical thinking in high-pressure situations
  • Experience writing professional case plans, court reports, or investigative reports
  • Experience building partnerships with community organizations and agency staff
