Child Development Center Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality early childhood education and care for children ages two months to six years old
• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, including toileting, meals, snacks, and nap time
• Assist with the preparation of meals and follow instructions regarding food safety and kitchen appliance use
• Direct classroom staff in the overall program in the absence of Lead and Assistant Lead teachers
• Work cooperatively with other staff members to maintain a total child care program
• Act quickly and appropriately in hazardous situations to prevent accidents and provide first aid
• Resolve conflicts effectively with both children and adults

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in the field of early childhood education
• 12 ECE units and three units of Infant Development coursework
• CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing - Associate Teacher-level permit (or higher)
• Pediatric CPR and first aid certification
• Ability to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds frequently
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with children, staff, and parents

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Child Development
• Experience using kitchen utensils and appliances safely for meal preparation
