About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children ages two months to six years during indoor and outdoor activities, meals, snacks, and nap time
  • Assist with the set-up and supervision of educational activities and food preparation
  • Direct classroom staff in the overall program in the absence of Lead and Assistant Lead teachers
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members to maintain a high-quality childcare environment
  • Act quickly and appropriately in hazardous situations to prevent accidents and provide first aid
  • Resolve conflicts effectively with both children and adults

Requirements

  • Ability to relate to and supervise children from infancy through age six
  • English fluency for communication with children, staff, and parents, and for reading children's stories
  • Physical ability to frequently lift and carry children up to 40 pounds
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions regarding food preparation and activity supervision
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in the field of early childhood education
  • Associate's Degree in Child Development
  • Completion of 12 ECE units
  • Pediatric/Adult CPR and first aid certification
  • Knowledge of child development theory and best practices in group care
  • CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing Associate Teacher-level permit
