Child Care Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Lead the Childcare Centre by ensuring the delivery of exceptional care and education in alignment with Ministry of Education regulations and "How Does Learning Happen" guidelines.
• Supervise, coach, and mentor childcare staff, including managing schedules, conducting performance reviews, and overseeing orientations.
• Manage the operating budget, including payroll information, staff expenses, and the purchase of developmentally appropriate materials.
• Ensure strict compliance with child protection legislation, health and safety policies, and CCEYA standards.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate programs, policies, and behavior modification plans.
• Foster collaborative relationships with parents, families, schools, and community agencies.
• Maintain high standards of facility cleanliness, food safety, and risk management.

Requirements

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of two years of related management experience.
• Current and valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
• Mandatory provincial curriculum training and certification.
• Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening (no more than 3 years old).
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and manage the physical demands of a childcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing relationship-focused, play-based, and emergent programming.
• Familiarity with the Salvation Army’s mission and values.
