About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the Childcare Centre by ensuring the delivery of exceptional care and education in alignment with Ministry of Education regulations and "How Does Learning Happen" guidelines.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor childcare staff, including managing schedules, conducting performance reviews, and overseeing orientations.
- Manage the operating budget, including payroll information, staff expenses, and the purchase of developmentally appropriate materials.
- Ensure strict compliance with child protection legislation, health and safety policies, and CCEYA standards.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate programs, policies, and behavior modification plans.
- Foster collaborative relationships with parents, families, schools, and community agencies.
- Maintain high standards of facility cleanliness, food safety, and risk management.
Requirements
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two years of related management experience.
- Current and valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Mandatory provincial curriculum training and certification.
- Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening (no more than 3 years old).
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and manage the physical demands of a childcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing relationship-focused, play-based, and emergent programming.
- Familiarity with the Salvation Army’s mission and values.
