About the role
Responsibilities
- Assign, supervise and evaluate the work of Child Care Inspectors
- Ensure adherence to and enforcement of appropriate regulations, protocols and procedures for field inspections
- Conduct monitoring visits and accompany staff to programs to evaluate performance
- Conduct inspections of a special or difficult nature and issue notices of violation
- Review child care databases and case files for accuracy and completeness
- Respond to verbal and written inquiries from the public and other agencies
- Train and coach new and current staff in Bureau protocols and regulations
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree with 30 semester credits in physical or biological sciences (max 12 in applied sciences) and 2 years of inspection experience
- OR Associate degree with 15 semester credits in physical or biological sciences (max 6 in applied sciences) and 4 years of inspection experience
- OR equivalent education/experience with at least 60 semester credits including 15 in physical/biological sciences
- Must have 2 years of experience as a public health sanitarian for supervisory eligibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Background in environmental health, child care, or a related field
