Child Care Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and implementation of age-based activities that promote social interaction and personal development
• Provide intervention for behavioral challenges and support individual child needs
• Assist with personal care and ensure child safety and well-being
• Manage risk by monitoring food safety, allergies, and facility cleanliness
• Maintain a hygienic environment by routinely sanitizing toys and inspecting for hazards
• Communicate effectively with parents and manage child sign-in/sign-out procedures
• Ensure full compliance with child protection legislation and organizational policies

Requirements

• Completed Secondary School diploma
• Current First Aid & CPR Certification, Level C
• Completed Babysitter’s Course
• Ability to provide a background check with vulnerable sector screening
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
• Physical stamina for standing, walking, bending, and crouching for long periods
• Experience working with children or in a day camp setting is considered an asset
