About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide care and programming for children and youth with moderate to severe emotional and trauma-based responses
- Lead and co-lead pre-approved psycho-educational youth programming focused on social and emotional learning
- Act as a role model and advocate for children, youth, and families to ensure access to necessary supports
- Create opportunities for recreational and leisure activities to enhance community connections
- Participate in community outings, appointments, and professional meetings
- Collaborate with external professionals including social workers, healthcare providers, and schools
- Maintain accurate reporting, case management notes, and files, and perform crisis intervention
Requirements
- Child & Youth Care Worker diploma from a provincially approved institution (or an equivalent combination of training and experience)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and the physical, psychological, and emotional needs of youth in care
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with case management systems
- Previous experience in child welfare, early childhood development, crisis services, or shelters
- Experience supporting persons with disabilities or substance dependency
