About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform daily operation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning, plumbing, heating, refrigeration, and cooling tower systems
- Inspect and maintain fire prevention equipment, including fire pumps, standpipes, sprinkler systems, and Class E fire alarms
- Supervise HVAC staff, manage daily work orders, and oversee preventive maintenance schedules
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and maintain detailed logs for all mechanical and fire systems
- Coordinate with outside contractors on plant-related equipment and repairs
- Train new and existing staff to ensure efficient building operations
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC plant operation
- At least 3 years of experience as an Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer
- Certified Operating Engineer (RSOE Q-01 FDNY COQ) and Universal EPA certification
- Proficiency with Class E fire alarm systems and fire suppression systems
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC troubleshooting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work flexible hours, including overnights and call-outs
- Must be able to join I.U.O.E. Local 30 union
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of various FDNY Certificates of Fitness (including F-89, S12, S13, P98, A35, P99, B29, and S95)
- Experience with water treatment procedures for closed-loop and house water systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and work order management software
