About the role

Responsibilities

  • Educate and supervise students in radiographic technique, including anatomy, patient positioning, and radiation safety.
  • Perform advanced dental imaging modalities such as bitewing, periapical, panoramic, cephalometric, and CBCT imaging.
  • Educate patients on radiation safety and the importance of accurate radiographic images.
  • Ensure correct patient positioning and select appropriate imaging settings based on clinical standards.
  • Manage the acquisition, processing, mounting, and electronic archiving of all dental imaging.
  • Maintain x-ray equipment, perform quality assurance, and manage instrument inventory.
  • Perform clerical duties related to patient records and radiologist reports within the clinical management system.
  • Comply with all HIPAA, OSHA, Infection Control, and Safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 1 year of experience.
  • Successful completion of the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam from the DANB or equivalent.
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification or equivalent (e.g., LMRT).
  • Willingness and dedication to perform intraoral x-ray imaging.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with intraoral, extraoral, and CBCT dental x-ray imaging.
  • Certification as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).
  • Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT).
  • Experience teaching and training student healthcare providers.
