Chief Meteorologist

Responsibilities

• Work with the News Director to create and implement strategic direction and plans for weather coverage
• Build and deliver daily engaging weathercasts for on-air and digital audiences, including creating clean and informative graphics
• Supervise, mentor, and coach the weather team, including scheduling and setting growth goals
• Lead severe weather coverage with urgency and expertise, coordinating with external agencies like the National Weather Service
• Interact live with fans and the audience across multiple platforms, especially during severe weather events
• Pitch and produce original weather content for all digital and social media platforms
• Participate in community outreach efforts, including live shots and station appearances

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in meteorology
• Minimum 5–7 years of on-air experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience
• AMS Certification (NWA Seal preferred)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Fluency with social media platforms and management tools (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
