Chief Meteorologist

Responsibilities

• Work with the News Director to create and implement strategic direction for weather coverage
• Build and deliver daily engaging weathercasts for on-air and digital audiences
• Supervise the weather team, including managing all schedules
• Interact live with fans and the audience on multiple platforms, especially during severe weather
• Coach and mentor the weather team with regular feedback
• Assist the News Director with recruiting and hiring for the weather team
• Develop plans for severe weather coverage and pitch original weather content
• Lead the coordination and implementation of technological advances related to graphics
• Participate in community outreach efforts, including live shots and station appearances

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in meteorology
• AMS Certification
• Minimum 7 years of on-air experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure while meeting daily deadlines
• Fluency with social media platforms and social management tools (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube)
• Knowledge of multiplatform newsgathering tools and resources
