Chief Meteorologist

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts for TV, radio, and digital platforms
• Deliver immediate weather information and live coverage during severe weather events
• Manage and mentor a team of meteorologists, providing feedback to guide their success
• Communicate weather presentation vision and coverage plans to anchors, reporters, and production staff
• Use advanced weather technology to tell intriguing stories and interpret radar data
• Produce and publish weather content for online platforms
• Represent the station at public events and community educational outreach opportunities
• Participate in weekly news management meetings

Requirements

• Previous on-air experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage
• In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting
• Dynamic on-air presence with a conversational presentation style
• Proficiency in interpreting and translating high-powered radar data
• Proficiency with Baron's or WSI graphics and technology
• NWA and CBM seals are considered a plus
• Related military experience will be considered
