Chief Learning Officer

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, direction, and management for the development of learning and research products and staff learning.
• Champion business transformation and lead innovation to drive organizational vision and product strategy.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to set organizational goals, hiring needs, and education/legal research strategies.
• Oversee the creation and execution of adult-learning strategies and instructional design improvements.
• Direct the production of online resources, live events, and content creation standards.
• Manage multi-year product budgets, including preparation, monitoring, and reporting to the Executive Committee.
• Provide legal guidance, including reviewing and negotiating contracts, protecting intellectual property, and managing legal risk.
• Supervise professional staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and fostering an inclusive culture.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree.
• Active membership in the State Bar of Michigan.
• Minimum of 3 years of law practice experience.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in CLE (Continuing Legal Education) development.
• Minimum of 15 years of successful administrative and supervisory experience.
• Extensive experience in strategic planning, project management, and budget oversight.
• Strong understanding of adult learning, legal research, and legal product development.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with customer-driven support and services.
• Knowledge of and experience with team-based management.
• Ability to organize and present interactive training.
• Previous management and leadership experience within the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE).
