About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and execute multi-year financial plans to ensure long-term institutional sustainability.
  • Identify and execute strategies to grow and diversify the University’s revenue base through new business lines and partnerships.
  • Oversee capital and facilities stewardship, including management of deferred maintenance and the Master Campus Plan.
  • Direct the timely and accurate gathering, analysis, and reporting of financial and operational information for the President and Board of Trustees.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and oversee annual external financial statement audits.
  • Supervise and develop divisional functional leaders, providing clear career pathways and effective team leadership.
  • Support the Board of Trustees and its various committees, including Finance, Audit, and Strategic Planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of significant, progressive experience in financial leadership or as a CFO.
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with Boards of Trustees and external partners.
  • Proven experience overseeing capital construction financing, including funding strategies and debt management.
  • Proficiency in external financial reporting, including financial tax and ERISA filings.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data to determine strategic implications and provide actionable recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or MBA designation.
  • Experience managing institutional investment portfolios or endowments.
  • Proven track record of driving measurable revenue growth through strategic partnerships or diversified funding.
  • Experience with public-private partnerships (P3) or alternative capital financing arrangements.
  • Strong understanding of university-wide governance and the complex issues facing higher education.
