Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.
Responsibilities
- Drive overall system architecture, primarily focusing on hardware with a complementary understanding of software
- Lead critical design decisions and conduct trade studies
- Translate customer requirements into actionable system and subsystem specifications
- Collaborate with government customers to guide the development of internal technical roadmaps
- Lead cross-functional teams and drive decisions on complex technical issues and system trades
- Perform system analysis to ensure subsystem specifications meet product requirements
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in system engineering, hardware design, and technical leadership
- Experience in simulation, AR, VR, or related products in defense or aerospace industries
- Expertise in system architecture design for combined hardware/software systems
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced technical degree
- Experience with Sensors (camera, time-of-flight) and image processing
- Experience with VR/AR hardware (Rift, VIVE, Gear VR, etc.)
- Experience working with government customers and defense industry standards
- Experience designing complex electromechanical systems for DoD certification
- Proficiency with requirements management tools like Jama or DOORS
