Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage technical integrity and technical baseline for the company
• Act as independent technical authority for requirements, design, risks, and schedule assessments
• Identify gaps between requirements, design, manufacturing, and operations
• Assess and disposition aggregate technical risks across programs
• Approve technical completion and compliance at major program reviews
• Provide engineering leadership and mentoring to coordinate design and systems engineering processes
• Provide independent review of corrective actions for major failures
• Collaborate with leadership to define technology roadmaps
• Ensure engineering and manufacturing processes are adequate and utilized
• Define and maintain system requirements for flight spacecraft hardware and software
• Perform trade studies and analyses for spacecraft hardware selection
• Support AI&T planning and execution for flight spacecraft and subsystems
• Create test plans and procedures to validate performance

Requirements

• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
• 15+ years of relevant experience in full life-cycle development of spacecraft
• Knowledge of vehicle product development including structures, propulsion, electronics, and communications
• Experience with high-fidelity aerospace vehicle control and dynamics
• Experience integrating multiple engineering specialties and stakeholders
• Experience leading design, production, and integration of complex systems
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
• CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience
• Experience defining requirements and executing verification plans
• Experience creating power, communications, and mass budgets
• Strong technical communication and presentation skills
• U.S. citizenship, permanent resident, or protected person status required

Preferred Qualifications

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in high accuracy inertial measurement system modeling
• Experience with Kalman filtering and instrument error modeling
• Experience with industry program management processes (CCB, ERB, EVMS)
• Previous experience working on DoD or USG development programs
• Ability to hold and maintain a USG Security Clearance
