Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all mechanical and non-mechanical systems aboard the Jean Ribault vessel
• Maintain compliance with USCG regulations and manufacturer specifications
• Lead preventative maintenance efforts and supervise junior engineers
• Conduct safety drills, training, and inspections of safety equipment
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance
• Manage mechanical systems, fuel, water, and shore power operations
• Maintain maintenance logs, records, and manage parts procurement
• Ensure proper disposal of sewage, trash, and oily water according to regulations
• Report all deficiencies to the Captain and participate in quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Valid USCG DDE 4000 HP / 500 Gross Ton credential
• Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Proven track record in the marine industry
• Prior supervisory experience in a similar setting
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications
• Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs and maneuver in confined spaces
• Ability to pass USCG mandated drug and alcohol testing
