About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all mechanical and non-mechanical systems aboard the Jean Ribault vessel
- Maintain compliance with USCG regulations and manufacturer specifications
- Lead preventative maintenance efforts and supervise junior engineers
- Conduct safety drills, training, and inspections of safety equipment
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance
- Manage mechanical systems, fuel, water, and shore power operations
- Maintain maintenance logs, records, and manage parts procurement
- Ensure proper disposal of sewage, trash, and oily water according to regulations
- Report all deficiencies to the Captain and participate in quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Valid USCG DDE 4000 HP / 500 Gross Ton credential
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Valid Driver’s License
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Proven track record in the marine industry
- Prior supervisory experience in a similar setting
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications
- Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs and maneuver in confined spaces
- Ability to pass USCG mandated drug and alcohol testing
