Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical advisor for the HHPC2 Engineering Department to drive flight hardware projects to successful outcomes
• Provide technical guidance for the interface between project teams and NASA technical teams
• Lead flight hardware readiness, risk evaluation, and technical disposition activities, including chairing Test Readiness Reviews
• Develop and modify engineering processes in coordination with department leadership
• Mentor and coach flight hardware project technical teams in areas of cross-functional training and engineering lifecycle execution
• Identify and resolve technical conflicts or synergies between various engineering teams
• Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and the implementation of lessons learned to prevent repeat occurrences
• Advise on technical risk decisions and provide final approval of waivers, deviations, and nonconformances

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
• 17+ years of applicable professional experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in hardware development
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and systems thinking
• Demonstrated experience in engineering leadership and mentoring engineers across disparate disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting NASA flight hardware projects
• Familiarity with NASA contracts and processes
• Experience working in accordance with EA-023 or SA-WI-014
• Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma concepts
