About the role
Responsibilities
- Fulfill vessel Chief Engineer job duties and additional responsibilities
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance of vessels, equipment, and docks
- Conduct repairs to engines, pumps, motors, and other critical systems
- Maintain necessary technical paperwork
- Assist Chief Engineers and vendors with repairs underway or dockside
- Communicate company standards and policies to all vendors
- Troubleshoot problems and train junior engineers
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of engine room experience
- Working knowledge of welding, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in confined spaces
- Ability to work in extreme weather and for minimum 14-day stretches
- Valid driver's license
- Physical ability to climb ladders and navigate uneven surfaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic skills with MS Outlook
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
