Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Fulfill vessel Chief Engineer job duties and additional responsibilities
• Perform preventive and routine maintenance of vessels, equipment, and docks
• Conduct repairs to engines, pumps, motors, and other critical systems
• Maintain necessary technical paperwork
• Assist Chief Engineers and vendors with repairs underway or dockside
• Communicate company standards and policies to all vendors
• Troubleshoot problems and train junior engineers

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years of engine room experience
• Working knowledge of welding, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in confined spaces
• Ability to work in extreme weather and for minimum 14-day stretches
• Valid driver's license
• Physical ability to climb ladders and navigate uneven surfaces

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic skills with MS Outlook
• Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
