Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Oversee routine maintenance and emergency repairs for hotel equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and elevators
• Perform or supervise preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
• Ensure all hotel facilities, guest rooms, and public areas meet brand standards and are in excellent condition
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations, fire safety, and local building codes
• Monitor energy consumption and implement efficiency-improving initiatives
• Manage the maintenance department budget, including procurement and vendor negotiations
• Respond to and resolve facility emergencies to minimize guest impact
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, expenses, and compliance certifications

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Proven experience in developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills across various building systems
• Ability to manage crisis situations and respond calmly under pressure
• Experience with vendor relations and managing external contractors
• Familiarity with Property Management Systems (PMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certifications such as HVAC Technician or Electrician License
• OSHA safety training certification
• Experience overseeing hotel renovations or construction projects
