Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Oversee the engineering department, including project planning, development, and implementation
• Lead the engineering team to set technical goals and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sustainability standards
• Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and mentoring of engineers
• Ensure product maintenance and operation in line with National Rail standards
• Manage equipment, spare parts, and inventory levels
• Forecast and deliver preventative and mandatory maintenance
• Compile performance metrics and maintenance histories to recommend improvements
• Manage internal/external staff, contractors, and project managers
• Devise strategies to maintain the product in optimal condition around operating schedules
• Ensure clear communication between product and ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant Engineering field
• 10-15 years of experience in the railway or similar industry
• Significant experience in senior engineering roles
• Hands-on experience with train design, systems integration, maintenance, and safety protocols
• Expertise in railway systems such as track, signaling, rolling stock, or electrification
• Proficiency in engineering software like CAD and FEA
• Professional engineering certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PE license)
• Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering
• Project management certifications (e.g., PMP)
• International exposure
• Proficiency in Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, French, or German
• Experience in the hospitality industry
