Chief Communications and External Affairs Officer

Responsibilities

• Define and guide DYCD’s overarching narrative and agency positioning
• Lead internal and external communications strategy, including media, digital, and speechwriting
• Oversee press, media relations, and public-facing engagement
• Direct crisis communications and high-profile responses
• Align communications with City Hall, elected officials, and agency partners
• Oversee the Community Connect Call Center and information referral hub
• Ensure communications are accessible, inclusive, and reflective of diverse communities
• Provide direct counsel to the Commissioner on messaging and external engagement

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
• Four years of relevant full-time experience in community planning, community relations, development, or organization
• One year of experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive capacity
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
