About the role
Responsibilities
- Define and guide DYCD’s overarching narrative and agency positioning
- Lead internal and external communications strategy, including media, digital, and speechwriting
- Oversee press, media relations, and public-facing engagement
- Direct crisis communications and high-profile responses
- Align communications with City Hall, elected officials, and agency partners
- Oversee the Community Connect Call Center and information referral hub
- Ensure communications are accessible, inclusive, and reflective of diverse communities
- Provide direct counsel to the Commissioner on messaging and external engagement
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Four years of relevant full-time experience in community planning, community relations, development, or organization
- One year of experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive capacity
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
