Chief Cardiac Physiologist

Responsibilities

• Undertake highly specialised Cardiac Investigations in Echocardiography or Cardiac Rhythm Management
• Interpret results and provide factual reports affecting patient outcomes
• Lead and participate in clinical audit, research, and development activities
• Provide education to the multidisciplinary team and contribute to staff development
• Manage teams of Cardiac Physiologists and Assistant Technical Officers
• Perform pacemaker checks, troubleshooting, and device implantation expertise
• Conduct haemodynamic monitoring during Cardiac Catheters and PCI
• Perform 2D Echocardiograms and advanced procedures like Stress Echo and 3D Echo
• Lead exercise testing and expert ECG interpretation

Requirements

• BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent
• BSE or BHRS/IBHRE accreditation (or working towards it)
• MSc or equivalent experience
• Professional registration (or working towards it)
• Solid experience in Cardiac Rhythm Management or echocardiography at Band 6 level
• Proven record of clinical expertise and leadership exposure
• Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills

• Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
• Leadership development training
