Chief Building Engineer

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of building maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Monitor building energy usage and ensure efficient operations
• Oversee contractor work and manage tenant improvement projects
• Prepare budgets, control inventory, and manage purchasing
• Supervise, train, and evaluate Engineering staff
• Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to address issues
• Conduct thorough inspections and maintain detailed documentation and compliance logs
• Enforce compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations
• Act as the primary point of contact and first responder for building emergencies

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED
• At least ten years of industry-related experience
• At least five years of supervisory and mentoring experience
• Engineering and trade licenses required according to local, state, or national requirements
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC, BAS, fire protection, and life safety systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, energy management software, and CMMS
• Ability to read blueprints and understand code requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds
