About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the firm-wide AML compliance program, serving as the primary point of contact for regulators, FinCEN, and law enforcement.
- Manage a large team of approximately 200 personnel, primarily based in Chicago.
- Maintain and update written policies and procedures to ensure adherence to BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, and other global regulatory requirements.
- Guide in-house developers in designing and enhancing exception-based surveillance reports and AML transaction monitoring systems.
- Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to respond to regulatory inquiries and execute remedial action plans following audits.
- Collaborate with New Accounts and Enhanced Due Diligence teams to calibrate and implement KYC procedures.
- Drive efficiency and automation within AML systems to reduce manual workloads and improve alert analysis.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of AML compliance experience, ideally within a large broker-dealer or international financial institution.
- Proven experience managing large AML compliance teams.
- Deep understanding of FINRA, SEC, CFTC, and FinCEN regulatory requirements for broker-dealers.
- CAMS certification (or equivalent) is required.
- Strong technology aptitude with experience using AML transaction monitoring and case management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to design solutions that balance regulation with business judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Series 24 registration or the ability to obtain it promptly.
- Strong academic background in a relevant field.
