About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop age and skill-appropriate chess curriculum, lesson plans, and activities for K-12 students
- Facilitate weekly lessons focusing on beginner instruction, advanced strategy, puzzles, and tournament play
- Promote critical thinking, decision-making, and social skill building through chess
- Work with program participants to develop their educational and leadership potential
- Communicate student progress and insights to team members on a regular basis
- Act as a positive role model for all students within the program
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (degree preferred)
- 1+ years of teaching or instructional experience
- Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans
- Experience in youth development and working with K-12 students
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Conservatory training or university-level education in a relevant field
- Experience in tournament play and match facilitation
- Current college students pursuing degree-level work in a relevant discipline
