About the role

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and develop age and skill-appropriate chess curriculum, lesson plans, and activities for K-12 students
  • Facilitate weekly lessons focusing on beginner instruction, advanced strategy, puzzles, and tournament play
  • Promote critical thinking, decision-making, and social skill building through chess
  • Work with program participants to develop their educational and leadership potential
  • Communicate student progress and insights to team members on a regular basis
  • Act as a positive role model for all students within the program

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (degree preferred)
  • 1+ years of teaching or instructional experience
  • Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans
  • Experience in youth development and working with K-12 students
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Conservatory training or university-level education in a relevant field
  • Experience in tournament play and match facilitation
  • Current college students pursuing degree-level work in a relevant discipline
