About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students using a structured curriculum
- Teach chess fundamentals, basic strategy, and simple tactics in an age-appropriate way
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, engaging learning environment
- Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and in-class activities
- Travel to various local school sites in the Kennett Square area for scheduled sessions
Requirements
- Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, or camp counseling)
- Strong grasp of chess fundamentals with ability to explain concepts clearly
- Comfortable leading a class independently and creating interactive sessions
- Reliable personal transportation to travel between school locations
- Availability on weekday afternoons between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor
