Chemical Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate chemical processes using DCS control systems to load recipes, control, and troubleshoot batches
• Perform automatic and manual charging, sampling reactions, and controlling process vessels
• Transfer products and raw materials between rail cars, tanks, reactors, drums, and totes
• Calculate ratios, percentages, and other mathematical functions for process accuracy
• Complete essential paperwork including transfers, packaging, tank wagons, and shift logs
• Handle hazardous materials safely and maintain strict housekeeping and safe work conditions
• Perform general plant maintenance and packaging of materials

Requirements

• High-school education or equivalent; vocational training or job-related coursework is preferred
• Minimum of one year of relevant work experience in a chemical plant environment
• Proficiency in operating distributed process control systems (DCS), personal computers, and associated software
• Strong basic math skills and the ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
• Ability to operate a forklift truck and successfully pass certification testing
• Availability to work rotating shifts and weekends as scheduled
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet daily plant requirements
