About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare menus, cook, and serve meals for Shabbat dinners, Jewish holidays, and special events
- Support the launch of kosher à la carte dining options on campus
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Serve as primary contact for food and kitchen supply vendors
- Coordinate ordering and purchasing with the Operations Manager
- Maintain food and supply inventories
- Maintain a clean and organized kosher kitchen per Hillel standards
- Manage student employees and oversee setup and teardown for meals and events
Requirements
- Experience working in a kosher kitchen preferred
- Experience catering large-scale events and special dietary needs
- Proven ability preparing meals for 10 to 100 guests
- Required food safety certifications and permits for City of Kent and Portage County
- Strong multitasking and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with students, volunteers, and staff
- Excellent organizational skills
Benefits
- Part-time non-exempt position starting at $26.50/hour, commensurate with experience
- Flexible schedule averaging 21–28 hours per week during the academic year
- Occasional hours exceeding 28 during Jewish holidays
