About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee food preparation and cooking for the designated hot section, ensuring high quality and consistency.
  • Manage the station efficiently, ensuring all ingredients are prepped and available before service.
  • Maintain strict quality control over taste, appearance, portion sizes, and plating.
  • Supervise and mentor junior kitchen associates, such as Commis Chefs, regarding cooking techniques and hygiene.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory and stock control for the section using FIFO principles to minimize waste.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Maintain and report on the condition of kitchen equipment and tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant culinary experience, preferably in luxury hospitality or high-end dining.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen operations.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills to manage a team and coordinate service.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and handle heavy kitchen equipment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or equivalent professional training from a reputable culinary school.
  • Passion for culinary excellence and a desire to master specific kitchen sections.
