Chassis, Active Safety, Durability Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform initial parts set-up including digital pictures, micrometer measurements, and visual inspections
• Execute vehicle maintenance and component retrofits for brakes and suspension
• Maintain and monitor test facility conditions including climatic chambers and salt water basins
• Execute driving cycles on closed fatigue tracks and public roads
• Install sensors and data acquisition equipment for vehicle tests
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair defects found during testing
• Transport instrumented test vehicles to proving ground facilities
• Record vehicle test maneuvers using video cameras and collect data for test reports

Requirements

• High School Diploma; two-year technical degree or trade experience preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a testing environment
• Automotive technical knowledge of vehicle component functions
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments
• Experience with sensor installation and data acquisition is an asset
• Valid California driver’s license
• Ability to drive a pickup truck and vehicle trailer combo
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and handle physical tasks like lifting 40 lbs
