Charge Master Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Assist the Manager of Revenue Analytics in maintaining the hospital Charge Master to ensure regulatory and billing compliance for Medicare and third-party payers.
• Manage daily, monthly, and fiscal year-end changes and deletions to the hospital charge master.
• Coordinate charge master updates by working with clinical departments, financial planning, information systems, and billing teams.
• Monitor revenue and charge capture reports to identify and address missed opportunities.
• Develop and maintain Charge Master policies and procedures to ensure pricing integrity and adherence to organizational policies.
• Stay current with state and federal changes regarding charges, coding, and reimbursement.
• Provide ad hoc analysis and reports related to the Charge Master database.
• Act as a Revenue Custodian to provide problem resolution for charging issues.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in Charge Master or billing, preferably in hospital finance or Patient Financial Services.
• Epic build certification (must be obtained within 6 months of start date).
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, managed care terminology, and CPT/ICD9 coding.
• Knowledge of government reimbursement processes.
• Excellent problem-resolution, listening, and communication skills.
• Ability to research and resolve issues independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, healthcare, or a related field.
• Professional coding experience.
