About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide intentional, directed spiritual care and one-on-one pastoral counseling to residents.
  • Plan and conduct creative worship services, Bible studies, and spiritual formation classes.
  • Facilitate spiritual programs that assist residents in their relationship with themselves, others, and their faith.
  • Recruit, train, and monitor chaplaincy volunteers to support program delivery.
  • Collaborate with case management teams and administrative staff to support resident wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate written records, including chaplain logs and statistical information.
  • Respond to resident inquiries and assist during physical, mental, or emotional crises.
  • Liaise with community faith leaders and various ministry units to support diverse resident needs.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal two-year post-secondary program in theological or biblical training from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in spiritual or religious care.
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR and WHMIS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check.
  • Experience working with marginalized populations, including those facing addiction or mental health challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized training with a recognized chaplaincy or spiritual care education body (e.g., CASC or Booth University College).
  • Training or certification in Addictions and/or Mental Health issues.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
